I grew up as a preacher’s kid in the Church of Christ [1] tradition, but not so traditionally. Being raised in the midst of a church-going and ministry-active Christian family, I can honestly say there has never been a time in my life that I did not recognize (cognitively, at least) this truth: Jesus loves me, this I know.

I have worked full time as a minister since 1991 with experience in youth ministry, spiritual formation, church administration, and staff leadership. Churches I have worked with include Bering Drive Church of Christ (Houston) and Singing Oaks Church of Christ (Denton, TX). Currently, I serve as Associate Minister with Altamesa Church of Christ in Fort Worth.

I have two degrees from Abilene Christian University: an undergraduate degree in Youth & Family Ministry (1990) and a graduate degree in Christian Ministry (2010). I am certified as a Catalyze Coach through Mission Alive (2018) and as a coach for the Grip-Birkman (2018).

My principal strengths are teaching, administration, and being with people. I am at my best in a classroom, developing organizational structure and processes, or listening to someone’s story. I find great joy in creating processes to move individuals and teams through transitions.

I am an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction covering the subjects of ministry, theology, spiritual formation, leadership, business, personal growth, history, and sports. I enjoy great food and great conversation in virtually any environment. Throw in a little theology and sports and it will be all the better. Most of all I find great joy spending time with my family around the dinner table, enjoying a great family outing or vacation, or just hanging out watching a movie.

The primary relational roles of my life are that of husband and father. I have been married since 1992 and a father since 1995. Debbi and I have three children.

Most importantly, I call myself a disciple of Jesus. Though I have been on this journey for a long time, I am still a beginner.
